There’s Someone Inside Your House will keep people waiting. These components all feel perfunctory, like Brice and Gayden checking boxes off a list of what they think Gen-Z teenagers will respond to. That superficiality means that There’s Someone Inside Your House has to offer something unique in the slasher department to set itself apart, and results are uneven there, too. In an unnerving touch, the killer wears a 3D-printed copy of their latest victim’s face.

What's the best high school horror movie?
Admittedly, There's Someone Inside Your House is a good title for a film looking to play around with tropes and get a bit winky and clever with set pieces. But what we get is a flat, muddled mess that fails because it just wants to have everything. It wants to have someone run through a house, but also a church.

In the end, despite the title, it's just a masked someone killing teenagers for reasons and those reasons are terribly dumb. Yes, there's a certain formula that has, and still can, work for the teen slasher genre. But that also means it can easily enough get thrown together in a half-hearted manner for a movie that only seems to care about checking various genre boxes for the sake of Netflix's "Top Picks for You" column than delivering something fresh and fun. From the killer's themed costume to the action set pieces to the actual reason the killer is killing, There's Someone Inside Your House is a haze of slasher malaise. It's also wildly inconsistent with its gimmick, messaging, and tone, wanting to be a Scream-style meta mystery, a Heathers-style high school satire, and a dramatic redemption story all at once.
It’s really dope, and I’m just grateful for all of the experiences. My mom’s side of the family is mostly from Philadelphia, but I’m originally from Los Angeles. So I’m a Cali girl through and through, but my parents have East Coast blood. In a recent conversation with THR, Park also looks back at her time with Drew Barrymore on the set of Santa Clarita Diet. Then she explains how stand-up comedy changed her life at seven years old.
Case closed: Dead Boy Detectives is a hell of a good time
They hook up, they party, they miss the killer in their midst, and then they start dying. So it goes in There’s Someone Inside Your House, same as it ever was. Makani spends much of the movie walking on eggshells, trying to distance herself from a revealing trauma, but also keeping her and Ollie’s relationship something of a secret (though they make out in his car a couple of times). Park’s certainly charismatic enough to carry her scenes, and for a while it’s easy to follow Makani as she struggles to keep a low profile. But there’s not much to Makani beyond Park’s suggestive performance, least of all Makani’s threadbare and mostly implied relationship with her sleepwalking grandma (BJ Harrison), or her cute, but unremarkable thing with Ollie. Still, the most frustrating thing about “There’s Someone Inside Your House” has to be the gulf between its characters’ stated qualities and their actual behavior.
At the end of the film, Makani, Ollie, and their friends head to the school's fall festival to try to thwart the killer, who they realize is going to strike there next. They arrive to find the cornfield maze up in flames, and Makani and Ollie run to confront the killer right before he kills their friend Zach's (Dale Whibley) father. The killer then takes off their mask and reveals himself to be Zach all along. Apparently he was fed up with being made to feel guilty for being a privileged white man, and is also sick of people hiding their truest selves. The originality of Netflix’s recent horror offerings is questionable, which is to say that these movies often stand on the shoulders of their genre predecessors. The Fear Street series nods so often at Scream, Friday the 13th, and The Witch that it fell short in developing an identity of its own.

The next day, Zach's rich father, Skipper, holds a corn maze next to the school. Darby messages Makani that Ollie has been released by his brother just as his car pulls up to the school parking lot. Makani runs inside to avoid him, and she bumps into Caleb, who is then stabbed by the killer for trying to hide his homosexuality. The killer gives Makani the knife before Ollie and Makani's friends arrive and save Caleb. Makani then realizes that the killer is headed for the corn maze. So I understood the rhythm, and Santa Clarita Diet was this single-camera show that was written like a sitcom.

Orlando theme park lover who loves thrills and theming, with a side of entertainment. You can often catch me at Disney or Universal sipping a cocktail, or crying during Happily Ever After or Fantasmic. Many of our readers had a lot to say when it came to this specific termination after reading our initial coverage and watching the YouTube videos. She also mentioned that she got in trouble for being sick and calling out on a shift, even with a doctor’s note. Overall, when watching the video, Sophia does not seem to be a fan of the company; however, she does make it clear she enjoys her position.
Based on the young adult horror novel of the same name, "There's Someone Inside Your House" stars Sydney Park as Makani Young, a high-school transfer student who moves from her home in Hawaii to live with her grandmother in a much more rural community. A year after the move, as Makani adjusts to her new school and makes friends, some of her fellow classmates are found brutally murdered by a killer who wears a mask identical to each victim's own face. “I have watched a lot of true crime,” sniffs student council president Katie Koons (Sarah Dugdale) when the murders start happening, and that statement applies to There’s Someone Inside Your House on a grander scale. This is a film crafted by people who are aware of the genre’s tropes, but unaware of how to put a unique spin on them. The result is that the film never fully transcends the level of “put on in the background while decorating for Halloween” movie. When will someone dare to be as inventive or as gruesome as this genre requires?
There's Someone Inside Your House is a wholly crummy affair with no teeth, no point, and no heart. In "There's Someone Inside Your House," it appears that everyone has deep, dark secrets, including those who you'd least expect. Thankfully, Makani's friends reassure her that her mistake doesn't define her as a person, and we see a glimmer of hope for redemption in Makani's future. The Summer House cast member appeared on Watch What Happens Live with Andy Cohen on March 8, where she told host, Andy Cohen that she has been dating again. "I'm dating, I'm having fun, I'm really busy, I have a lot of projects, I just bought a house in Nashville." Founded in 1921, John Oliver Secondary School doubles as Makani’s new school in the small town in Nebraska.
With all the superb filming facilities that it offers, Vancouver is an important hub of what is known as the Hollywood North. A significant portion of the movie was shot in John Oliver Secondary School, located at 530 East 41st Avenue. The novel is also notable for subverting certain narrative expectations throughout. That's because, as Perkins herself put it, the point of the story is not just to find out the identity of the killer but to see how Makani and her friends grapple with this terrifying threat and their own secrets.
